22 going on 23. Figure skating. Doctor Who. One day I'll make cartoons that rot kids' brains. One day I'll wear a super awesome dress and do the Paso Doble. Hopefully.

So for the USFSA, club renewal happens in June. So after I graduated from college in May, I decided that I would change clubs in June. Sounds simple, right? Far from it. When I sent my application for membership to the club closer to home, I checked the “Transfer Membership” box. Somewhere along the line this didn’t translate to a “Welcome to Skating Club of XYZ”. Also know that I had to ask my mom for a check because I had run out of checking account checks, so she was the one to gave the money. I tried to pay her back but after a bit of negotiating, I was allowed to pay her back by paying for lunch for the family one day at a Korean restaurant. I agreed to that.
Anyhow, after a month or so I sent an email to said Club asking what’s going on with my membership. Apparently just checking the box wasn’t enough. I had to submit a formal “Change of Club” form. All right. Simple enough. Considering that I had gotten a “Collegiate Membership” part way through college, I figured that this might be the wrench in the machine. So I emailed one of the officers at my former club and asked them to fill it out. He said sure thing and I sent him the paperwork. I even sent an email to my contact telling her that the paperwork was in the mail. I got no response.
So after waiting about a month or so, I sent them an email asking about my membership. NO RESPONSE.
The only reason I’m not going batcrap crazy with guilt about the money is because I did get to pay my mom back effectively with lunch that day, but still.
So that’s why I haven’t really been pushing the issue with my coach about testing out of Bronze dance even though I’m really freaking antsy to do so. Because I have no idea how to proceed with my club status. And unlike my former coach, I don’t feel like I can say “hey, can you fix this?” because unlike my former club, this club is freaking huge and I don’t think he (my current coach) could do much about it. That and I don’t feel like explaining to the officer that I asked for the paperwork what happened in August.
One of the girls at the rink that I skate at now told me that she just skates Independent. I think I might just do that next year. Because if I don’t test sometime soon, then the whole club membership thing was a waste. And I hate waste like this.
